Sydney Opera House

When I went to the tourist info centre back in June, I was surprised to discover that the opera only runs at the Sydney Opera House in July, the other months it's used for other productions.  It made me a little panciky, because I thought it would surely be long booked out.  However, while fairly full, there were still very good seats to be had.  I did not want to miss out on seeing an opera at Sydney's most famous venue!

Turns out the most picturesque views of the opera house are from afar.

We saw a wonderful production of La Boheme.

Intermission.

Quay

Afterward we head directly across from the opera house to Quay (pronounced "key"), one of Sydney's best restaurants.  It is one of those rare restaurants that breaks the law of restaurant real estate, whereby the quality of the food shall be inversely proportional to the quality of the view.

My husband, engaged in one of his favorite pastimes... perusing the wine list.

I liked the shape of the plate.

It was a quintessential Sydney night!
